Music

Maarten is an active musician as a member of the Vermont Choral Union, Aurora Chamber Singers, the Vermont Symphony Orchestra Chorus and jazz a cappella group Maple Jam. His many vocal arrangements have been performed by Maple Jam, the Vermont Choral Union and the Middlebury College Community Chorus.

Maarten’s full-length, pandemic-inspired mass Missa Pandemica (Mass in Time of Pandemic) was premiered by the Vermont Choral Union in December 2021.

In 2024 the Vermont Choral Union premiered Maarten’s composition Leisure, a setting of the W.H. Davies poem by the same name. In 2025 the Aurora Chamber Singers performed Maarten’s composition Make of your House a House of Peace.
